How to Prepare for the GRE Issue Essay?

Chandigarh: Hitting a perfect score in the GRE essay can boost up your chances of getting admission in good graduate school. The best graduate schools always look out for candidates who are not only good in quant and verbal but also are competent writers. In spite of having excellent record and test taking skills, most of the students fail to demonstrate impressive writing skills.

The Topics chosen by the exam authority for your “issue” essay are not meant to have heavy background knowledge. You don’t have to be a Rocket-Science major in order to answer this essay. There are many ways to answer this part of the exam based on your reasoning and writing skills. The below are some of the most common suggestions which should be considered while preparing for Essay Section in GRE:

1. More Practice:

The more you practice the more expert you will become. You can write several AWA prompts within the 30 minutes recommendations. Set up the test like conditions, practice more, and more, this is the only way to get comfortable with the GRE essays.

2. Do Not Beat Around the Bush:

Focus on one side of issue only; do not try to tell both the sides of the issue. You cannot opt for any middle path, as it will not show you clear and confident.

3. Go For Real Examples:

Explain things using some real life examples like the mating rituals of octopii, Mitt Romney etc.  You do not need to tell everything in a scholar way, you can put some humor elements in that. However, make sure that these examples should be relevant to the topic you are discussing. Target various subjects like politics, literature, and personal experience and choose out real examples on that.

4. Try to Avoid Self-Reference and First Person:

If you are writing a personal experience, then use first person pronouns i.e. ‘I Think’ in the paragraph only. Never use them in your concluding or introductory paragraph.

5. Use Declarative and Strong Statements:

Try to include some ‘because’ clauses, charged adjective so that whatever you wrote will look confident.
