Chandigarh: The GRE is The Graduate Record Examination. It is a computer based or paper based standardized test. The GRE exams are required for most of the graduate schools in the United States. GRE exams are created and administrated by Educational Testing Service. The exam measures the analytical writing, critical thinking skill, quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning that is not related to a particular field of study.

The GRE scores for the admission process vary from the departments and the school.  Many graduate schools in US require GRE results as part of the admission process. The general academic nature is tested regardless of the specified field. The GRE test consists of seven subjects of specific areas the exam is about 225 minutes. The structure of computer-based GRE consists of six sections:  The first section consists of analytical writing, and the rest of five sections consist of verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning sections. The General test has a computer-based exam which is conducted at Prometric testing centers.  The GRE exam is not only for the people trying to get into grad schools in the United States, but are also for people planning to study abroad other than US countries.

Few schools and universities conduct a technical exam to be placed in for masters in their institute. It depends purely on the university and the country you are planning to go. Normally Germany universities conduct the technical exam while some of the US universities also conduct the technical exam after GRE.

However, not all German Universities need GRE score. The admission will be granted on the GRE scores and the technical exam scores. Regarding the type of technical exam, US universities, test on the very basics of the core stream you might opt. It should not be that difficult for a student. Your admission is not ultimately based on the results of technical exam score. For an admission, many other factors are also considered.
