Ten Math Tips for Better Score in #GRE Exam




Chandigarh: Many students do not favor Math, but if you are planning to take GRE test and feel that you won't be bale to clear it. Relax, as some of the simple steps can help you in cracking the GRE Quantitative score.

 Check the ten math Strategies that can be of great help to score better in the GRE examination:

1.    Read out the questions thoroughly:  Read the questions accurately and understand the concept before just jumping into solving the questions. Even  if the problems seem to be familiar and the maths seems fairly obvious, check out the question and familiarize.

2.    Use calculator sensibly:  Avoid using calculators to solve all the questions. Most of the questions can be solved out without a calculator. Answer only the complex questions using the calculator as this will save some precious time.

3.    Fix a time for every question:  The quantitative section consists of  approximately 20 questions, and you get 35 minutes to solve them.  Do not spend more than 2 minutes on one question. Most of the questions will take just 1 minute. Although if you get stuck for more than 2 minutes strategically guess the question and move to the next one.

4.    Solve Quant Comps using the provided info:  Solve the Quant Comp questions strategically.  Write down the variables, key numbers, phrases and solve it. The Quant comp questions do not require complex math solving.

5.    Back solving while solving answer choices: Check your work using the back solving strategy while you are solving the problem-solving questions.  Plug the answer choices into the question.  

6.    Pick numbers instead of variables: Use a smaller number while Substituting instead of using the integers like Z. Use the number that is allowed according to the definition of the question.

7.    Follow your method:  Be methodical in your approach and solve according to the strategy while answering the difficult questions. Evaluate the questions correctly and decide the method to approach the question.

8.    Analyze graphs and tables:  Do not rush while solving the problems. Read the labels, titles, units and note the trends before attempting to answer the questions.

9.    Break down the complex figures into smaller shapes:  While solving the geometry questions redraw the figures for your understanding label everything it will help in solving the problem.

10.    Memorize the answer choice: In the Quant Comps the answers do not change. Be assured about the phrasing as it would save a bit of time.
