Chandigarh: The GMAT examination is part of the selection criteria for admissions in Business school. However, applicants can now submit GRE scores for admission into business schools.
GRE scores are accepted by many of the Top-tier schools including Stanford, Harvard, Wharton, Duke, UCBerkeley, NYU, MIT, and Yale. More business programs are expected to accept the GRE in the coming days. A complete list of business schools that acknowledge the GRE is provided by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Instead of being limited to the GMAT now you have the options of appearing for GRE as well. How would you decide if you should take the GMAT or GRE? Well, there are various reasons for why you should opt for GRE instead of the GMAT. Certainly the particulars will depend on each person. However listing out the advantages and disadvantages of the GRE is sure to help you make a correct decision.
Benefits of the GRE Exam over GMAT:
The GRE sets less emphasis on logical arguments and grammar as compared to GMAT. Familiarity with logical arguments to some extent is required for the GRE but not to the level as much as that for the GMAT. For the applicants who are lagging with the logical based questions or grammar, the GRE offers a little relief.
GMAT test has no options of skipping the question and return to it later as it is a computer adaptive test (CAT). You need to move forward continuously. While GRE allows you to skip as it is a section adaptive test, so you can skip and return the question later. Which allows time management and implementation of pacing techniques.
With the GRE one has more options as you can also apply for graduate school programs. While GMAT score is valid only for the business school. Hence, with GRE you can alter your plans.
The GRE is administered at more places compared to the GMAT. The GRE is offered in several places across the globe which is not the same case with the GMAT.
